ipads for people with vision loss

.

Here's an interesting article from Smithsonian on ipads as useful tools for people with vision loss.

Apparently loss of sensitivity to contrast is usual -- being able to increase the contrast (as well as the size of the font) makes it much easier for people with low vision to read.

The article is interesting -- and be sure to read the little tidbits at the bottom about iphone apps.  For example, one uses the phone's camera to examine paper money so the phone can tell the user what denomination the bill is!

Cool.
