Walking downtown to have lunch with a buddy. There's a ravine, just north of Huron, which has steep sides and a damp bottom. This part of it is owned by the city, and is called a "park." It's really just a little bit of woods. On the north side of this little patch of woods there's a path between the woods and a house. We lived in this neighborhood for years before we understood the path is public property and it's ok to walk through. Now it's on my most usual route downtown.
In the summertime, you can't see Huron, but with the leaves off the trees, you can.
That dark red minivan, just left of the word Huron, was whizzing by at 30 mph......
Just east of the previous, the ravine spreads out and is West Park.
These are the same trees we looked at against the sunset sky yesterday.
The same venerable oaks.
On the board walk over the pond. On the 14th, when I came through here at sunset, it was too dark to take pics of the ice on the pond.
On the 15th, it was 11:30 am -ish, with plenty of light.
Leaves and "sea weed" on the bottom of the pond, with the saturation increased a lot. You know me, I love color..............
More bubbles-in-the-ice.
Looking west, over the pond, from the boardwalk. You can see the ice, at the bottom of the image.
Downtown. Huron/First/Washington/Ashley parking lot.
I wondered if I could catch the grass against the sunny sky. I bent down, and pointed the camera at the sky. I could see where the lens was pointed, sort of, but I made no attempt to get low enough to see the view screen.
I'm reasonably pleased with this, and not entirely sorry we can see the cars in the parking lot, in addition to the "mostly grass in front of the sunny sky" I was looking for.
It's getting on for the holidays, and businesses are sporting fresh decorative paint. This is a wine bar, hence the grapevines. With yours truly. I was concentrating on trying to get as square a shot as I could (rather than a skewed one, from the side), and wasn't thinking about being part of the distractions, myownself.
Love this artist's work..... The shapes, the squiggles.........
Love paint -- love the layers and textures.......
Love the earth ornament, hanging from the grapevine.
I had a lovely lunch with my friend. I walked back up toward work with her, and then walked on to the downtown library. You know I went in. I came out with an armful of books, so I took the bus home.
Then Willard and I went for our mosey.
Most of the leaves have been gathered up and sent off in city trucks for composting. This is one of the few places where leaves are still deep enough to kick through, crunching beneath your feet, sounding and smelling like the essence of autumn.....
