Today we decided on a lazy down-time sort of day. Emails were answered, questions from work were answered, pictures were triaged. We worked on using up perishables, and enjoyed crepes made with our last egg, some of the milk left over from the French toast, and the last of the strawberries. Mmmmmm.
This afternoon we went to the train station and found out how/where to catch the bus from there to the airport. It sounds very easy and quick (15 min!). Then we'll figure out where our rental car is, and go pick it up.
Then we went to a recommended gelato place. My hazelnut was delicious. She had three different kinds. I know one was pistachio. They were yummy.
There was one last restaurant on my daughter's list -- one that served piadina. We think that's the name of the bread and the sandwiches made from it. It's a very flat bread. As flat as a crepe, only bread rather than an eggy batter, and somewhat crisp. She had a regional cheese and arugula on hers, and I had tomato and mozzarella.
Well, I'd better get packing. We are checking out of our apt. around 9:00 am tomorrow morning, and then walking (1 kilometer?) to the train station, to catch the bus, which runs every 15 minutes or so.
I *think* we'll have wifi for the next few days while we are visiting MUCH smaller places, but if I'm off the air for a bit, you'll know that's why.
Buona notte!

How fantastic that you're in Italy with your daughter! Sounds like a wonderful holiday. Safe travels!
Hope you have had a care free travel day!
Your postcard from Venice is sitting on my desk as I type. :-)
BTW there is a HUGE wine show going on in Veneto right now. My friend Chaad was just featured in a picture on FB visiting with wine makers and sampling, of course!
Look forward to your future posts.
Tara -- so lovely when it's possible to travel well with one's daughter! :-) Thank you for the good wishes!
Laurie -- you REALLY wish you were with us yesterday. We saw hundreds of wheels of Parm Reg, aging. They cut a 24-month wheel just for us, and let us eat as much of it as we wanted. It was ***REALLY*** good. :-)
I hope Chaad had a profitable time in Veneto! I had a taste of a really nice Lambruschino (sp?) last night......
Wait till you see what our "smart car" turned into........... ;-)
PS -- glad to know the postcard arrived. :-)
