June 25

.

My first daylily bloom of 2013.  My daylilies came from rural Indiana to my first house, and from there, to here, in 1985......  They are my most successful addition to the property.  Love everything about them, especially their reliability.

Walking on a muggy sticky day.  We've seen this orange bug before, but this is the first time I noticed the bigger orange VW.

It's also the first time I noticed how many different brick colors there are!  I thought of this house as "red" but it's obviously a lot more complicated than that!

Two bullfrogs.  Dark one at right, lighter, greener one at left, both facing left, and at about the same distance from the bottom of the image.

Wisteria over our driveway.

It was too hot too cook.  We went to Gourmet Garden.  This is "vegetarian's paradise," and it tastes as good as it looks.

Also beautiful -- this is our favorite dish at Gourmet Garden -- "Hunan chicken, hold the chicken."  If you ask for Hunan vegetables, they give you different vegetables, which we don't like as well as these.

Taking a leaf out of the movie Five Easy Pieces -- Jack Nicholson's character wants toast.  The restaurant he's in won't sell him toast.  He asks if he can have a chicken salad sandwich on toast.  They say he can.  He asks for "a chicken salad sandwich on toast, hold the chicken salad," and gets his toast..............

"Hunan chicken, hold the chicken" gets you these lovely veggies, when "Hunan chicken" would be almost all chicken, with just a few veggies.  ("Hunan chicken, with just a little chicken" doesn't work, it's been tried.............)

Love your lilies. I've always had problems growing those. Sigh. These are beautiful!
