inversion layer fills the Grand Canyon with fog/clouds.......

.

A palate-cleanser, after that last one.

An inversion layer filled the Grand Canyon with fog for several days.

As cool and unusual as that was, I'd have been disappointed if that was my only time to see the canyon as I expected to see it!

A friend of ours has been to the Grand Canyon twice. Once they got there after dark, so she didn't see anything. The next time there was a freak blizzard, and she didn't see anything. She does not believe it exists.

Of course the second time there were tourists there from abroad, and it was their only day at the canyon. They kept asking the rangers when the view would clear up... Kind of like us and Denali.

Oh man, to have it happen that you couldn't see it TWICE..... How aggravating!

At least they told us, about Denali, that it was only visible one day in 10. So we could have a reasonable (rather than unreasonable) expectation.....

I got some pics of a snow-covered mountain, sticking up through the clouds, from the airplane. I think it might be Denali........... So maybe I managed to foil the average, by cheating.......... :-)
