When I was 10 or 12, I had an English pen-pal who was a bell ringer. I remember her writing that she was a ringer, and I didn't know what that meant.....
We lost contact (probably because I wasn't as good as I should have been about writing back!) decades ago.
Amaryllis, I still think about you any time I hear anything about bell ringing!
