June 11

.
Walking to yoga.  Going through West Park, as usual.

Hey!  Look!  Do you see it?

No?

Here's a closer crop of the center of the above.  Teeny weeny little frog!

The frogs were so little I thought they were bugs, at first.  Nearly invisible unless they jumped.  They could comfortably have sat on a dime......  It had been raining, and the wet pavement was alive with little frogs.  We walked verrrrrry carefully, trying to avoid stepping on them.............

The concrete on the left of the next image is part of the support for the bridge over the pond.

The baby frogs were congregating here, climbing up away from the pond, bound for the next chapter of their lives.....  There are probably dozens of frogs in this image.

So interesting that most of them still have their tails, at this point.  The ones that were far, far up the path (up the hill, toward 7th Street), no longer had tails........

At least half a dozen of them in this crop of that larger image above.

On the way home after yoga.  The farther from the pond, the bigger the frogs.  But "a big one" was about half an inch from nose to rump.....  This next image has the shadow of the camera.  I held the camera pretty high up, as I didn't want to scare the froglet, so this shadow is smaller than the camera was.  My guess would be that the camera is actually half again as big as it appears here.  Really itty bitty little frogs...........

We wished them well.  They'll need all the luck they can get -- they were headed uphill toward 7th Street, which is pretty busy, and there really aren't a lot of ponds for them, anywhere................
