The week that I finished work for Epigenetics I decided it was high time to sit down and read a novel. Especially as Mr. Penumbra had to go back to the library in two days.
I really liked it. It's the first book by a new-to-me author that I've enjoyed in a long time. If you like quirky characters, and a bit of fantasy, and a bit of high tech, and a lot of imagination, you might like Mr. Penumbra and company.

I've read this book and enjoyed it immensely. A clever plot and well written. Glad you liked it as well.
It doesn't surprise me that you and I should like the same book. :-)
Have you found anything else that you liked, recently?
Almost forgot to tell you---I had the library's hard-cover edition of this book, and the cover was printed using glow-in-the-dark ink! When I turned out the nightstand lamp, the books on the cover would glow! How neat is that!
Two recent books I can suggest. One is "The Sisters Brothers" by Patrick deWitt. It's considered a historical novel, but it is totally unlike any I've read before. Alternating dark and funny.
Second is "Noting to Envy" by Barbara Demick. Non-fiction interviews with people who have escaped from North Korea. Gave me much more of an understanding of what is going on there and how very dangerous the situation has become.
Have fun reading!
Very cool about the glowing cover! :-) I didn't notice that....
Thanks for the recommendations!
