On the 19th of June I walked to a restaurant to have breakfast with a friend. Unfortunately I forgot to turn my phone back on after yoga on the 18th, so I never got her calls attempting to let me know the 19th no longer worked for her. Oops!
I ate anyway, and walked home. It had been raining.
Fancy butterfly weed. "Plain old ordinary" butterfly weed is a lovely bright orange. People have convinced butterfly weed to be other colors, in addition to orange.
Love these colors -- the coral buds, with the orange and gold flowers -- and don't they look great with green?
Milkweed, which I think has got to be a relative of butterfly weed, looking at the flowers...... But the leaves are very different. And milkweed smells lovely but I can't discern a scent from butterfly weed....
With ants.
Really interesting flowers. Quite different from the rose-like "basic flower" image in my mind.
Milkweed buds.
More butterfly weed.
Closer....
Closer yet. See what I mean about the flowers looking like milkweed flowers? These individual flowers are less than an inch across.
Yellow butterfly weed.
Catalpa. This is a big tree, with big clusters of big flowers. (Well, relative to butterfly weed flowers, they are big flowers.) A bit more than 2" tall, maybe, each flower, and the clusters are sort of football sized.
Driveway. I love how this looks, and I know my feet like this uneven surface better than concrete or asphalt pavement, if I'm walking all day. But I'm glad I don't have to shovel snow off it.
Hey look! Scrap-metal kangaroo! It's good to walk somewhere you never walk -- who knows what you'll find.............
Love her. She needs a joey, I think.......
You've heard me talk, many times, about the ravine that runs through our neighborhood. This little house is on the edge of the ravine. That is to say, it's on built-up land where there *ought* to be ravine.........
I like the colors they've chosen for their sitting area.
I'm on the other side of the street from that little house. Turning around, looking down in to the ravine. No houses on built-up land on this side of the street..........
Begonia.
Looking back across the street. Remembering a song from Girl Scouts -- "Little cabin in a wood, little man by the window stood, saw a rabbit hopping by............."

Nice macros! Love that driveway too and the little house is darling. All good finds :-).
Thanks!
Those milk- and butterfly-weed flowers are interesting -- so like each other, and so different from other flowers I know..... But the leaves are different...... I suppose I could go find out whether they are related, but I haven't done that yet.
I'm going to plant milkweed in my lawn extension after all the milkweed in my neighborhood go to seed........ :-)
