August 20

.

The Delta terminal (formerly the Northwest terminal) at DTW (Detroit, Michigan) is lovely.  Open and light and spacious.  I prefer to be early, so I don't have to hustle.  I almost always have time for a walk before my flight.  This terminal has to be at least half a mile from end to end..........

The new-to-me camera has a much brighter screen than the old one.  I can actually see the image on the screen, quite clearly.

I noticed my feet as I walked with the camera turned on.......  Not sure why this makes me think of "Stayin' Alive," but it does.  Perhaps because that was my pace, as I walked?  "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ooooooooh!"

In this shot you can see a big parking structure in the background, and between us and that parking lot, about in the center of the image, with an arched roof, is the part of the terminal where you come into the airport from your ground transportation.  That's pretty far away from here, pedestrian-wise.

Time to go.

The camera seems to have acquired a hair across the lens.  Argh.  I never noticed this until I got these on "the big screen."  Sigh.

No hair -- maybe it was hanging out of the way when I had the camera in this orientation?

I love flying.  Look how green everything is.........

Damn' hair!

Clouds are excellent..........

Leaving Michigan; headed for Illinois........  Note how it is cloudy over Michigan, but not so many clouds over the lake.....  On the other side of the lake, the clouds pick up again.

Love Google maps.........

I did not recognize any of Chicago, but this is obviously O'Hare......

Then it was cloudy.

This is much later, as we came down toward MCI.  I spent a little time looking for this, but didn't find it.  Love the curves of the river(s)........

Green in Kansas (or Missouri?), too.  Not usual, for August............

Standing outside, on a hot day, waiting for the shuttle to the rental car place.

The rental agent told me I needed to have proof of insurance with me, if I got in a wreck.  This makes sense, but no one has ever told me this before, and I didn't think of it on my own (even when I've called my home insurance agency to see if they cover me for a rental car).

So here's a word to the wise -- make a copy of your car insurance and have it on you when you rent a car!

(I called home and asked to be emailed a photo of the proof of insurance for one of our cars, which I printed and then kept in the rental car..........)

I got a boring black Nissan Sentra.  Since we drive Nissan Versas, I knew where everything was (all the controls, I mean), so that was good.  But it's fun to have something a bit more interesting, when I rent a car.  It didn't cause me any trouble, though, so I'm not complaining.
