Here's a better look at the snow, shrink-wrapped in ice..........

Back when I was a kid, I remember at least one time (maybe two times?) when there was an ice crust, on top of snow, that was sturdy enough for us to ice-skate on.

But I don't remember what it looked like.

This is the first time I remember seeing this incredibly shiny, rounded, shrink-wrap look...........

If the sky was cloudy when I was a kid and we ice-skated on the snow, the shininess might not have been as apparent?  I don't know...........
