drawing conclusions about hearing ability from examination of fossils

Scientists are finding they can predict hearing ability of modern humans and chimpanzees from examination of skulls and inner-ear bones, and are using that knowledge to study the probable hearing ability of pre-human hominins.

Amazing -- I don't think it would ever have occurred to me that hearing could be studied from looking at ancient bones.......

If we know which frequencies someone can hear best, we can draw more-informed conclusions as to which sounds they might have made, or even which sounds they probably did make.........
