May 30, part 3 -- end of day

.

Here is a link to the interactive expedition map.

We ate dinner in the north rim lodge restaurant.

Then we moseyed outside to partake of the sunset.  The canyon is immense, and the sky is bigger........   (That faint sliver that looks like the moon, near the top, a bit right of center, is, indeed, the moon....)

Almost all of the pics in this post were taken by the phone.  It just did a better job.  (If only it had a zoom lens........)

Reality shot.  We were not alone here.  EVER.  There are at least 9 people in the next image....

Concentrating on the view.  This is a regular-camera (not phone camera) zoomed-in shot.  I believe that mountain we've seen looking south from the north rim is Humphrey's Peak.  (Arizona's high point, near Flagstaff)

Looking southeast.  Admiring the jet-trail X.

Looking south.

Looking southwest.  Standing on the eastern veranda.  That's the one corner of the huge room in the lodge, at the right edge.

Looking back more to the east.  There's our jet-trail X again.

On the west veranda.  Sunset.  Looking north of west.  8:30 pm.

8:37 pm.  Looking west from the east veranda.

The sky................  Looking south.  There's that moon again.

Looking toward the east.

Looking south.  This one is the regular camera.  It really fails when the light is low.  The phone does a much better job in low light.

Looking back toward the west (with the phone).   So glad to have these images......  We were really there........
