January 27, 2018 -- part 2, Pewabic

.

After a late breakfast of pie at Sister Pie, we went to Pewabic.

They were having a special exhibition of things to do with drinking.  It was great to see a wide variety of ceramics made in a wide variety of techniques.

Love this texture.  This is a hand-full-size cup made by Christopher Mayse.

Teapot on stand, with cups.  I wonder if this was 3D printed.  I rather suspect it was.....  Or maybe cast in a mold cut by a CNC router.  Nathan Neufeld.

Like the marks on this pair of items.  I failed to get the ID info, alas.

Wow.  Getting the glaze just right, to do this?  Tricky.  Another ID fail.

More interesting marks.  Yet another ID fail.  Sigh!

Maybe this is a saki bottle?  More marks......  Debra Oliva.

Double-walled cup.  Katie Bosley.

Molly Uravitch

Another ID fail.

The next two pieces are from Pewabic's collection.   Uranium glaze.  Yikes.........  Mary Chase Perry Stratton.  ca. 1920-1940

From the Women's City Club.  Made by Pewabic.

Pewabic has a large and interesting variety of stuff in the gift store.  Some of it under Pewabic's aegis, and some of it under individual artists' names.

Deep decoration.  (Made by poking with a pencil tip?)

Inside the previous cup -- the marks come right through to the inside.

Tile by Motawi (based in Ann Arbor).

Turtles.

Octopus.

Starry night.

Another octopus.

Dishes.
