April 26, 2018

.

These shrubs have the same habit as forsythia, and the flowers look A LOT like forsythia.  But the shrubs are smaller, and the flowers are smaller and have a lovely fragrance.  I looked it up, and I think this is a relative of our usual yellow forsythia, but not quite the same thing.

These little guys bloom earlier than "regular forsythia," and around here they tend to get zapped by a stray frost.  I think this is the best performance I've ever seen from them.  (They are on the corner of 7th and Miller, so they are right on one of our beaten paths.)

Later.  Evening in the park, under excellent skies.

Those "evening sky" pics make the ground level look a lot darker than it really is.  Here's a "regular forsythia" between the park and home.  This shot gives a better indication of how light it was at ground level.
