rags to riches

.

Have you heard the story of Guy the beagle, who was alone in Kentucky, but found his way (via a circuitous route) to Meghan Markle's heart, and then to Kensington Palace?  (Apparently he didn't really ride with the queen to the wedding reception, but I think the rest is true.)

Well, this is Burt, the (not entirely) beagle who was alone in Kentucky before coming to live with us in Michigan many years ago. He was a very good dog.  He lived with us for 15 years, before going on to that comfy cowshe in the sky a while back.

I’m sure he would advise any lonely beagle (or anyone, actually) to approach everyone with a wag and a smile (but be ready to high-tail it if they don’t return your good will).

You never know when you will meet someone who will turn your life around. Or at least give you a cookie.  You will never know if you don't ask.  Nicely, with a wag and a smile.

Good boy, Burt.  You were a good, good dog.
