still walking to work on Aug 14

I took a different route to work, on August 14, and I encountered new gardens....

A late daylily.

My goodness. What on earth. An iris in August???

Hollyhock.

I've never seen the naughty bits quite so close up and personal. Love the pink curls....

Datura.

Alaska isn't the only place with plants with Really Big leaves.

I believe this is a castor bean.

Cleome.

Grass?

Don't you just love the Datura flower? It's a bit 'stinky', the plant, but I love it. It is prehistoric!
There are autumn blooming Iris.

Datura flowers are SO big. They look so exotic....

Autumn-blooming iris? I didn't know..... What a good idea. :-)

Now if we just had autumn-blooming peonies........... :-)

Sorry to be commenting so far back..I love Iris. There are some extraordinary early varieties, too.

I love iris, too. It's wonderful when the best sorts of plants come in varieties that bloom early and late.......
