Sunday afternoon was warm (60F) and mostly sunny.
We mounted an expedition to Gallup Park.
Shagbark hickory?
Gallup Park runs along the Huron River.
The other Ann Arbor high school is across the street from this part of Gallup Park.
I bet this is damage done to an ash tree by the emerald ash borer beetle. There are no more ash trees in southeast Michigan. All have fallen to this (very pretty) insect scourge.
The patterns are cool, but we'd rather have our trees, thankyouverymuch.
The previous two pics were tree trunks. The next one is the inside of a big hunk of bark underneath one of the trees.
The only green we saw was moss.
I had water for all of us in the car. It was warm enough that Buzz was very thirsty when we got to the car. This next pic is near the end of our walk. He doesn't like to go on without me, and he's getting a bit tired at this point, I think.
