still walking to work, July 3

.

There are railroad tracks at the top. Someone has taken significant trouble with the landscaping here -- lots of different lilies, the fence at the top..... There is a parking lot behind me to the left.

I've driven by here a million times, and walked many (though I prefer walking on Washington as there is less traffic). I've never noticed all these flowers before.

This lily was just out of sight to the right, in the previous.

On up the hill. Monarda (bee balm).

We have now arrived at the excellent parking lot bounded by Ashley, Huron, First, and Liberty.

One of the people responsible for taking care of the landscaping was there, on the 3rd, and I complimented him on the plantings and how nice everything looks. He said that his firm has been contracted to do the work by the company that manages the parking lots for the city.

I told him truly that he and his colleagues do excellent work.

Here is our lovely yellow lily, with something nice and purple.

Look at all the shapes and textures in this one little vignette. Nice.

Spent aliums. Excellent texture, no?

Leaving the parking lot behind.

Buildings along Main Street.

This is what the powers that be want to replace with faceless tall buildings. Fie on 'em.

Home furnishings.

Ceramics. I am sorry there is so much glare in this pic. I quite like the sculptural piece and wish the old-copper green showed up better.

It's my impression that we don't know, yet, what is going in across the street from the library. I believe the last proposal (for 14 stories of housing/whatever/parking) has fallen through. (Good!) If we don't know what's happening next, I'm not sure why they've removed the sidewalks...........

An improvement to anyone's ambience, no? No. Emphatically.

Sigh.

Ok, cleansing breath.

Walk on.

Yew, pelargonium.

Daylilies. These have been bred for continuous bloom and more-compact habit. I don't like them any better than the common ones.....

Two different treatment of the same pic of daylilies.

This next one shows that this is an edge-of-urban setting (all those parked cars!), and has a watercolor filter.
