The Blizzard of 2011 hit us on Feb. 1, mostly during the night.
It was cold, and windy, so the 8-10" we got was light, and blew around, leaving places with only 3-4", and other places with most of 2' of snow.
Our neighbor kindly blew our sidewalk for us.
I couldn't get this pic to be nice and clear (sigh!) but you can see that the snow on the sidewalk was 5-6" deep here.
Note also interesting rings in the snow on the north side of the tree.
Time to shovel the driveway. The snow was 6" deep, or more, up against the garage door.
Snow in my daughter's hair.
Tighter crop.
Snow on her coat.
Snow on my coat. Contrast is everything, when photographing snowflakes.....
The blizzard was the first real snowstorm of this winter, for Michigan. It has been an "inch and a half every day for a week" sort of winter, rather than the "eight inches at once" sort.
We weren't hit nearly as hard as other places.
As long as the power stays on, we've got nothing to complain about.
I'd always rather shovel than mow. :-)

Hi - thanks for your kind words about Sinda - You, too well know the heartache when one of our four footed friends leaves us.
We've had mild early spring weather here - It made things so much easier yesterday. T.
I do, indeed. :-(
I'm glad your weather was cooperative.
Love, love, love your snowflake photos - as always.
Thanks. I can see the snowflakes (and the frost, too, for that matter) much more clearly in the pics than with my naked eyes....
The camera is like a slow magnifying glass.....
:-)
Wow. The snowflake shots are really beautiful.
Thanks. I find them ... tantalizing.... I checked a couple of snowflake-photo books out of the library.
Of course they used custom equipment which was pretty much like a microscope, but ... the details............
:-)
