Calderone is one of my better half's favorite courses. He'd been admiring the contrast between the green fairways and the golden grass. He offered to take me there and show me around....
That's corn in the background (between the trees and the golden grass). I think corn is a thirsty crop. It's been very dry, so I was a bit surprised to see such happy corn. It was probably up to my waist. It was very green, and not droopy at all. Good.
We were hoping to see sandhill cranes, and we spotted them right away.
They are habituated to golfers, but they notice right away when you are paying attention to them.
They don't like being stared at. They move away.....
They are about 5' tall -- this is tall grass (though I do think the crane was down hill a bit from the grass in the foreground).
Closer crop of the above -- I believe we are looking right through its nostrils, which just happen to be perfectly aligned.
See them, as specks, upper right?
I was taken by the bright gold of the sunlight grass. Unfortunately, this did not interest the camera.
Cropped and frescoed.
Cropped and posteredged.
Greens and gold.
