Another cafe-on-a-piazza, wishing that it wasn't raining.... Another big brick church.
A very fancy storefront, for what looked like a very fancy store.
We saw the hand-pulled cart used by mail carriers in Paris. Here's at least one thing in use by mail carriers in Bologna.
Bologna's main square -- Piazza Maggiore -- in the rain.
Standing in the same place as the above, turning a bit to the right.
Still standing in the same place; turned more to the left.
Covered-walkway flooring.
Time for lunch!
Shadows and reflections.
Interesting bread basket. I liked the bread sticks, and the crackers (top, left, looking like they were cut with pinking shears).
More recording of impressions.
More shadows and reflections.
Nice ambience here.
Tortellini in brodo (tortellini in broth), one of the signature dishes of Bologna. It was good, but not fabulous.
The biggest soap dispenser I've ever seen. It must be a two-liter bottle.....
More fancy shoes. This style came in several color combinations.
More fancy floors. I really like this tan/blue/orange/white color combination.
Tower, and motorcycles. Lots and lots of motorcycles.
The due torri, or two towers. The pair of them, together, is one of the post-card sights in Bologna. Apparently one of the ways one flaunted wealth, in the middle ages, was to build a tower that was higher than anyone else's tower. The upper part of the one on the left fell off, at some point.
I neglected to find and record the info about who this is. For some reason my mind wants to call him Good King Wenceslas, even though that is clearly not who he can be......
