Snowing on the 16th, around 9:00 AM.
We got an inch or two, and then the sun came out. This shot taken around 2:00 PM.
I am hardly ever the first one to walk on new snow, but right there, right then, I was.
The western end of my mile-ish loop -- this is the choice if I go as far west as I can and still do this loop. It's pretty steep. The cardio portion of the activity.
It's gradually up, and up, nearly all of the way to this point. Once I get here, it's steep up, steep down, and then it's basically flat all the way home.
And now for something completely different -- we went to a Josh Bell concert at Hill Auditorium. Hill is a big venue. We were nearly as high as it's possible to be. But the acoustics are really good, and we could hear just fine.
I know basically nothing about music, but even I could tell that Josh Bell is an amazing violinist. Sort of the way I can tell that Olympic ice-dancing gold medalists Meryl and Charlie are really good at what they do........
Loads of talent, enhanced by unceasing learning and practice, leads to some incredible results.
He has a very special violin. It was interesting to read in the program that the violin has played Hill Auditorium once before, in the 1920s -- almost certainly before Josh's parents were born. It's interesting to think about where that violin has been, over its life. Where it has been, and who has played it..........
After the concert, we ate at Mani Osteria. We shared a chick-pea and lentil appetizer, which was delicious, and split two pizzas (baked in a wood-fired oven), which were also very good. I'd never been there before, so that was different for me as well.
A different -- and very nice -- evening.

Lucky you! I've always wanted to hear him play -- his concerts here sell out the first day. Last night we were at a chamber orchestra concert and at the talk back, the violinist reminded me of when Joshua Bell played his violin in the subway just to see what people would do. He played a good long while before he was either recognized (or made enough to get him home -- given the fact that he probably could have taken a limo home if he wanted!) I remember the story on NPR -- if you're interested, google joshua bell-subway-npr and you should find it!
My daughter was the one who set it up and procured the tickets.
I hardly ever go to concerts, but I'm very glad I went to that one!
My daughter was telling the story of Josh in the subway. Pretty amazing! I wouldn't have recognized him, but I'd have recognized that he was something special, and I'd have given him money. I always give money to street musicians who do a good job. :-) I figure they are brightening my ambience, and I am grateful for that. :-)
