In the early morning of the 20th, circumstances dictated an unexpected trip to the airport. (The original plan became unworkable, requiring a spot of aid from us.) Thank goodness the weather was cooperative -- the highway was dry and there wasn't too much wind.
(Why do people drive like maniacs? On my way home, someone slid into a spot in front of me that was no more than two car lengths long. At 70+ miles per hour. Scary. !!! Cars that drive themselves, and maintain safe distances automatically? BRING THEM ON, say I. !!!)
I felt even luckier about the dry pavement in the early hours of daylight when it began to snow in the middle of the morning.
Snowing right down.
The sidewalk was bare, before this snow started.
Goodness.
At this point, we've got about two inches (about an hour after it started snowing!).
Still snowing right down. I'm not sure I've ever seen it snow harder than it did on the 20th.
It snowed, hard, for a bit more than an hour, and then there was brief interlude of ice pellets, and then it started to rain. It never rained very hard, but we had light rain for the rest of the day. (Ick! Rain on snow? No.)
The snow on the pavement turned to slush..................
The 20th was the first day since I don't know when that I didn't walk the dog. I didn't walk me, either. I just don't have the right foot gear for inches-deep-slush everywhere, and he hates getting his feet wet..... He'd rather go in our fenced yard than go anywhere on slushy sidewalks, and I can't really blame him!
