This post is pretty much solid rant, so if you're looking for positive thoughts, I'm afraid I've got nothing, today..........................

The night between the 2nd and the 3rd, the stinking plows came by in the middle of the night.  They filled the end of our driveway with about two feet of hunks of compacted snow and ice.  We had to chop it apart, before we could move it out of the way, so our daughter could get to work.  (And need I mention that there is getting to be no place to put the snow that we move?  We are having to move it some distance, before we lift it over all the snow that is already there, to set it down again.....................)

This is NOT (**NOT**) an improvement to our ambience!

We ran errands on the 2nd, no problem.  The roads were not clear, but so what?  Drive carefully, no problem.

Having our road cleared for the benefit of the jerks who do NOT live here, but go whizzing through like it's a highway rather than a residential street, is NOT an improvement!

I can't imagine how much money/time/thought, over the last hundred years, have been devoted to making our country more comfortable for CARS.  Not for PEOPLE.  Not for property owners.  For CARS.  As long as CARS can get quickly to their destination (and every tree has been cut down to make room for parking!), all is well with some people's idea of how the world is supposed to be.

I feel like a voice in the wilderness, when I assert that moving the snow off the street into my driveway is totally unacceptable!  Leave that mess in the street, so people will drive cautiously, or get stuck if they don't! 

And then, there's this!  Those )#($^(@# plows go whizzing by at a speed that sends the stuff they've scraped loose all the way over that high snow pile in the lawn extension and all over the sidewalk!

It's more of a problem for blowers than for shovelers, because our lawn-extension piles are higher than theirs, and block more of the snow.  But the plow trucks are moving so fast that they are throwing all the snow high and far.

I tell you what -- if I came out in the morning and saw this on my sidewalk, I would be on the phone to city hall in 2 seconds.......................  Some of those chunks of snow/ice are a foot long, and they weigh pounds and pounds.......................................

This is a way for the city to make home-owners shovel the street.  Plain and simple.  Yet another "tax" that they can pretend isn't a tax.................................  Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I can't tell you how many women I saw out in the neighborhood, as I walked my mile loop, clearing this crap off their sidewalks.

Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  >:-P

I am NOT complaining about Mother Nature or the snow itself.  But when PEOPLE make decisions that make my life worse, so jerks who do not live here can drive faster on my street, well, that makes me crazy..............................................

Sigh, and ARGH!

It's pretty, isn't it?  And the sun is out.  Things are always better when the sun is out, in the dead of winter..................................  And the footing is fine, when it's COLD.  Much better than when it's near 30 and things are more melty/slushy.
