Coffee.
Cacao.
Now here's something completely different (at least to me). Look at these really flat plants, growing on a bark substrate. They must be epiphytes; that's just loose bark -- no actual tree behind it, from which to suck nutrients.....
Have you ever seen anything like this? I hadn't...... The leaves look like ferns, with spore thingies on them........
Wikipedia says Dischidia is a genus of plants in the Milkweed family, Asclepiadaceae. It comprises about 80 known species which all grow as epiphytes and are native to tropical areas of China, India and most areas of Indo-China.
So there you have it.
And now, back to our nearly-totally unlabeled visit to the conservatory.
Something red.
Something purple.
Something pink.
Closeup.
Bougainvillea.
Coleus.
Textures and more textures.
A closer look at not-pinecone.
These leaves are velvety-fuzzy, as well as stripey, and goodness, look at the flower!
Tantalizingly close to clear enough, but not quite............ Sigh.
Pineapple!
This is really big. Those sets of orange things are about a yard long. Well, maybe not quite that big, but well over two feet, anyway.
Large, and fuzzy.
Plants are so often fuzzier than I realize, when I look at them with my bare eyes, or from a distance......
Here's another bromeliad.
Closer.
More bromeliads.
Closeup of the fruit? seen above. Speaking of fuzzy.........
Shapes and colors.........
I think it's interesting how some of the spikes go one way, and some, the other. Even on the same ... stem? leaf?
One last bromeliad, and we'll call it a day!
