Walking over to have breakfast with my friend A.
There has definitely been a seasonal sea-change............
Enjoyed breakfast and our "never-ending conversation."
Walking home afterward -- here's a nice clear shot of butterfly-weed seedpods. Longer and skinnier and not so rough on the outside, compared to milkweed seedpods, but very similar.
Coneflowers.
Here's another plant with yellow flowers with brown centers. These flowers are smaller than what I think of as black-eyed susans -- the petals are shorter.
Rose of Sharon. I strongly suspect (from the shapes of the flowers and buds) that these are hibiscus relatives. They are woodier, and the flowers are smaller than what I think of as "hardy hibiscus"..... These want to be a tallish shrub, sort of on the order of a lilac.
